Teeth Whitening

A beautiful smile says a thousand words.

And for those of us looking to brighten our smiles, we offer two types of professional teeth whitening: take-home or in-chair.

As the name implies, the take-home option is perfect for patients preferring to whiten their teeth from the comfort of their own home. It involves placing custom made bleaching trays in the mouth for around an hour daily for two weeks. It is an easy and affective way to brighten and whiten teeth.

In-chair whitening offers a more instant result. A whitening gel is applied to the teeth during your time at our surgery, and after two to three hours, patients experience a whiter, brighter smile.

Our teeth whitening patients can also join our White for Life program. Patients receive one tube of whitening gel free (RRP $39) every time they return for their regular 6-monthly checkup and clean appointment. This ensures you not only maintain good oral health, but the teeth continue to remain white and bright.

FAQs

Professional teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental treatment designed to lighten the natural colour of your teeth. At Dental Harmony in Aspendale Gardens, teeth whitening is performed under the supervision of a registered dental practitioner to ensure safety and suitability.

Most adults with healthy teeth and gums may be suitable candidates for teeth whitening. A dental assessment is required before starting treatment to determine whether teeth whitening is appropriate for your individual oral health needs.

Results vary depending on lifestyle factors such as diet, smoking, and oral hygiene habits. Your dentist will provide personalised advice on how to maintain your results following your teeth whitening treatment.

When carried out by a qualified dental professional, teeth whitening is generally considered safe. Some people may experience temporary tooth sensitivity or mild gum irritation, which typically resolves shortly after treatment.

Professional teeth whitening is customised to your teeth and supervised by a dental practitioner. Over-the-counter products are not tailored to your individual needs and may not provide the same level of effectiveness or safety oversight.

Teeth may become discoloured due to factors such as ageing, certain foods and drinks (including coffee, tea, and red wine), smoking, and some medications. A consultation can help determine whether teeth whitening is suitable for your teeth.

The first step is to book a consultation at Dental Harmony. Your dentist will assess your oral health, discuss your goals, and determine whether teeth whitening is suitable for you. It is also recommended to have a clean first before whitening to remove stains, discolouration and any build up.
